Mumbai: A Mumbai Court is likely to sentence three convicted men in connection to the gangrape case with a photo journalist at Shakti Mills in the Mumbai city.
The incident took place in August when the young photographer had gone to Shakti Mills along with a male colleague regarding her assignment.
The gang of 5 men namely Mohammed Salim Ansari, Vijay Mohan Jadhav,Mohammad Qasim Hafiz Shaikh alias Kasim Bengali, Sirat Rehmat Khan and a juvenile took turns to assault her. All the rapists were found guilty.
It is notable that the trio Mohammed Salim Ansari, Vijay Mohan Jadhav and Mohammad Qasim Hafiz Shaikh alias Kasim Bengali have also been convicted for gang raping an 18-year-old telephone operator at the same place last year.
All three of them have been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection to the telephone operator gang rape case.
Thus, it will be interesting to know about what decision is taken by court on their part. Will the 3 convicts serve life imprisonment for 14 years and then sentenced to death or the court will announce them to be 'hanged till dead' right away?
While one of the accused Sirat Rehman Khan will be convicted in the photo journalist gang rape case today, the juvenile accused is facing trial separately in the Mumbai Juvenile Justice Board. The hearing for the same will begin next month.
Notably, the Mumbai police worked hard in the case and managed to nab all the accused within 3 days of the incident. Also a 600 pages plus charge sheet was filed by the police against the convicts in the case.
After such gruesome incidents in the mills by same people, the desolated area was cleaned up and more security was provided in the vicinity.
