Jharkhand woman gang-raped for working with BJP

Ranchi, Jharkhand: A woman in her 30s was gang raped in Jharkhand for supposedly helping garner support for BJP. In the police complaint, the victim has alleged that a mob stormed into her house, handcuffed her husband, assaulted her 13-year-old daughter and eventually gang-raped her. According to news reports, the woman was part of minority wing of the BJP and was helping the party to attract Muslim votes. Anurag Gupta, a senior officer and spokesman for Jharkhand police, confirmed an investigation had started but said it was too soon to confirm her allegations of a political motive for the attack. "An investigation from all angles is on and it is very difficult at present to say the exact reason behind the incident," Mr Gupta told news agency.
