BJP leader Vijay Pandit shot dead in Greater Noida, 4 arrested; section 144 imposed

Noida: Four people have been arrested in connection to the murder of BJP leader Vijay Pandit, who was shot dead by unidentified bikers on Saturday night in Greater Noida. Major clashes broke out in the city following the murder due to which section 144 has been imposed in Greater Noida and 2 units of the Rapid Action Force have been deployed. According to TV reports, the bikers had fired five bullets at Pandit and he died on the spot. The BJP workers have been protesting against the incident and have also set many vehicles on fire. The political action committee was deployed on the spot. Mr Pandit is a former district BJP vice president. The attackers shot Pandit first and then fired in air to not let the crowd gather. They left a bike at the site. The victim’s family has alleged that a local criminal carried the attack. Police has started to probe the allegation. There were reports of violence breaking out in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, after a BJP leader was shot dead on Saturday. After the news went viral, the supporters of BJP assembled and resorted to vandalism. They put some vehicles on fire, created chaos and pelted stones at police. Around 16 vehicles were set ablaze.
