Chennai: MDMK released its election manifesto on Saturday. The party proposed to rename the name of country from India to United States of India, after it emerges victorious after the approaching Lok Sabha polls.
Furthermore, the party head Vaiko has propositioned to lift ban on the banned group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
The leader said that the Indian constitution was basically drafted with a concept of federal governance structure.
Only later, as the time passed, all powers were absorbed by the centre.
Therefore, Vaiko recommends revisiting the constitution and relocating powers with the Indian states.
Adding further he said that after the party is voted to power, a referendum would be arranged on creation of Elam in Sri Lanka for Lankan Tamils in the places where Lankan Tamils reside.
The manifesto also speaks about banning death penalty. There is a provision about ensuring reservation in private sector, setting up of Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water regulation Committee to supervise the sharing of waters of the river between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Additionally, the party is all united in forcing the central government of the country to take action against Sri Lanka for attacking Indian fishermen and rescue Katchatheevu, an island in Palk Strait from the neighboring country.\
