24-year-old TCS staff jumps out of moving auto to escape abduction bid, slips into coma

Thane/Mumbai: A 24-year-old employee of a software firm jumped out of a moving autorickshaw on Saturday night after the driver reportedly tried to abduct her. The girl is battling for her life now. She has been identified as Swapnali Lad, employed with software giant TCS in Mumbai. Lad was returning home from work when the incident took place. According to reports, an eyewitness saw her screaming for help and leaping out of the autorickshaw. NDTV reports that she was rushed to hospital by bystanders and has been unconscious ever since. Doctors have performed two major surgeries on her. It has been four days and Lad continues to be critical after sustaining severe head injuries in the incident. Other reports say that investigating cops have not ascertained that she jumped out of the vehicle to save herself. However they believe that the culprit could be an autorickshaw driver who plies from Bhiwandi to Thane. They are now looking into her call and message details for leads. Meanwhile, doctors treating her say that there is swelling in her brain and she has slipped into coma.
