Thane (Maharashtra): A 12-year-old girl from Manorama Nagar locality in the city is paying the price for trusting someone whom she hardly knew.
Jagdish Solanki,22, befriended the teenage school girl on WhatsApp. Then he invited her to a mall near Teen Hath Naka area on Monday evening to celebrate Friendship Day. Without thinking twice, the girl made the mistake of meeting him at the appointed place.
When she went to the spot, Solanki threatened her that if she did not follow his instructions, he would upload her objectionable photographs on social networking sites.
The accused Solanki took her to a nearby shanty. He first forced her to drink liquor and then raped her. His two friends kept guard outside the hut, said Police Inspector Sulabha Patil of Wagle Estate police station.
The main accused Jagdish Solanki and his friends Rajesh More (22) and Rahul Salve (19) were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the crime that took place on August 4, police said.
The trio has been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said.
