CJP seeks immediate report on Lahore sexual assault case

The News 14 Sept 2013 LAHORE: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, has taken a suo moto notice of the sexual molestation of a five-year-old girl, who was subjected to this brutality in Lahore on Friday, Geo News reported. The CJP has also ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab to submit a report on the case by tomorrow (Saturday) morning. The CJP took the notice of the incident after Geo News broke the news and followed it up throughout the day. According to details the girl was abducted and sexually assaulted and was dumped outside the Ganga Ram Hospital in a semi-conscious state. Later the girl was transferred to the Services Hospital where she remained in critical condition for several hours. A three-year-old was also abducted and later left at the child protection services by the criminals. The medical report of the minor confirmed that she was brutally sexually and physically assaulted. She required stitches on her stomach, back and had also received internal injuries. Following the crime, neighbours gathered at the house of the five-year old, while her father said that she could not say anything because of fear. Her mother cried out for the criminals to be held accountable. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the case after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the crime while an unregistered motorcycle was recovered from their possession. Police say they are identifying the criminal in the case via CCTV video from the Ganga Ram Hospital. Initial investigations reveal that he was on carrying the child on foot and is believed to be 18 years old.
