US looks forward to working with new Pakistan army chief

WASHINGTON: As Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif picked Gen Raheel Sharif to be new army chief, the United States which has close security ties with Pakistan Wednesday said it looks forward to working with the newly appointed military commander. “We worked closely with General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on a range of issues over the course of time in that position. As you know he is moving on and we look forward to working with the new his replacement,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said in response to a question at the daily briefing.
