Eve-teasers thrash boy and girls in broad daylight, policemen on duty refuse to help Bhaskar News | Feb 12, 2014,

Indore: Women and girls of Pipliyahana are left with no option but to come on the streets and demand justice this way. Police has become blind and refuse to help them, allege the protesters. Girls and women are being harassed anywhere and everywhere they go, allege protesting girls. Eve-teasers are everywhere--school, college, bus top, inside buses and road. Two days ago, some girls were allegedly teased and a boy accompanying them was thrashed severely in broad daylight. Policemen were present near the crime scene and despite repeated requests from the public, they refused to act. This protest rally on Tuesday was an effort to make police realise the severity of the situation and give the message that girls won't be taking this nonsense any further. "Many girls have stopped using public transport because of eve-teasers," said Varsha Sharma, former student union president of Devi Ahilya vishwavidyalaya. People have been demanding police presence near educational institutions as eve-teasers roam around there during the college hours. Indore Police keep hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Very frequently, they resort to moral policing and harass couple visiting parks. But, the real culprits who are menace to the society are not targeted by the police, alleged protester.
