Fahad Aziz torture case: SHC orders inclusion of 4 private doctors to medical board

KARACHI: To ensure neutrality, the Sindh High Court on Friday ordered that the medical board – constituted to prepare a medical report for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Fahad Aziz – should include four private doctors, Express News reported. MQM barrister Farogh Naseem had stated that the board only has government doctors and submitted a request in the court to include private doctors as well. Aziz was arrested by police on February 8 and was released on bail the next day. Aziz had claimed that he was tortured during police interrogation. He was taken to Darul Sehat Hospital after having been detained by the police for about 10 hours. A few days after the incident, on February 11, MQM had gone to court against, what it called, extrajudicial killings of its workers. The MQM had claimed that around eight party workers have been killed while over 45 have gone missing in the city. On the same day, Sindh High Court Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar had ordered that the First Information Report (FIR) and medical report of Fahad Aziz be presented to the court within 15 days.
