Whodunit?: Road realignment being investigated

ISLAMABAD: The CDA on Thursday assigned Engineering and Maintenance DG Shahid Sohail to fix responsibility for the faulty alignment of Margalla Avenue. Under the master plan, Margalla Avenue was supposed to commence from the Nicholson Monument on GT Road, but some CDA officials, allegedly in a bid to help out a private land developer, altered the original alignment by setting up the commencement point of the road near Sangjani on GT Road. Changing the alignment of the two-kilometre portion of the road had a domino effect on the rest of the road. Published in The Express Tribune, February 14th, 2014.
