Punjab CM has 32 cars in his cavalcade, costing ex-chequer a staggering Rs. 30 crore in last 2 yrs

Chandigarh: A seething debt of Rs. 1 lakh crore did not deter the Punjab state's ruling alliance of Akali Dal and BJP to spend a massive Rs. 30 crore on fuel since they came to power in March 2012. The pair of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and deputy Sukhbir Singh Badal has alone spent a staggering Rs. 14 crore in the last two years. According to a news report published in the Times of India, the CM's fuel bill from March 14, 2012 to December 2013 equalled to Rs. 8.22 crore; while that of deputy chief minister touched Rs. 5.9 crore during the same period. The report revealed that CM uses a large entourage of 32 vehicles. Even the Prime Minister of India has nine vehicles in his cavalcade. The cavalcade consists of a Hyundai Elantra, 3 Toyota Camrys, seven Toyota Innovas, 8 Ambassadors and 21 police gypsies. Meanwhile, Sukhbir loves to travel around surrounded by an Innova, a Camry and 9 Ambassadors, including 8 police gypsies. Also included in the large list of ultra-luxury vehicles are four Toyota Land Cruisers, mounted with mobile jammers. The expense of these four vehicles was not included in the cost mentioned above.
