Revealed: Here's why women live longer than men!

A new study has claimed that women’s immune systems age more slowly than men’s which may help them living longer. Healthy volunteers in Japan aged between 20 to 90 were studied. It was found that in both genders the number of white blood cells decreased with age. As the neutrophils decreased for both, the lymphocytes went up in women and went down in men. The declination rate in T cells and B cells for women was slower than in men The rate of lymphocyte, which goes up with age -- increased at a higher rate in women as compared to the men. The process of ageing is different for men and women for many reasons. Women have more oestrogen than men which seems to protect them from cardiovascular disease until menopause. Sex hormones also affect the immune system, especially certain types of lymphocytes. Because people age at different rates a person’s immunological parameters could be used to provide an indication of their true biological age
