Wikileaks vs Narendra Modi: Did BJP supporters push FAKE Julian Assange's endorsement for Gujarat CM?

New Delhi: Whistle-blower website WikiLeaks rubbished the media claims of endorsing the honesty of Bjp Pm candidate and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi on Sunday. The website clarified that the US diplomatic cables, which were released by it in 2011, never described Modi as "incorruptible". On Sunday, the website posted a series of Tweets stating, that the US cables, sent by Mumbai Counsular General Michael S Owen in 2006, had only quoted Rajkot Congress Party leader Manoharsinh Jadeja. "#India: No WikiLeaks document say #Modi is 'incorruptible', rather he is popular because 'viewed' as 'incorruptible'," the website clarified, adding, "The Narendra #Modi "incorruptible" quote comes from Rajkot Congress party leader Manoharsinh Jadeja." The tweets further said Modi's supporters had pushed fake Assange propaganda that the website founder Julian Assange endorsed his honesty. "#India: How #Modi supporters aggressively pushed fake #Assange endorsement," it commented. According to the cable released by WikiLeaks, Owen described in detail his meeting with Modi in 2011. The website quoted Rajkot Congress party leader Manoharsinh Jadeja as saying, "Modi's accomplishments are undeniable," and admitted that the Congress would make little headway against the BJP in Gujarat anytime soon. Modi is extremely popular, Jadeja said, and even Muslims are now supporting him to some extent because he is viewed as someone who is completely incorruptible and can deliver the goods.
After the cables were released in 2011, Narendra Modi, the then frontrunner for Bjp's prime ministerial nomination, had had released a statement on his website "Narendramodi.in", expressing happiness at being called incorruptible. "Wikileaks cables are accurate. I am glad to learn that America admits Modi is incorruptible’. "The cable had presented an honest account of his talk on human right issue with the American official," the Gujarat CM stated.
While on Monday, reacting to the WikiLeaks clarifications, Bjp's spokesperson said that Modi didn't need a certificate from the website. "The nation does not need a certificate from Julian Assange or Wikileaks about Modi, and neither does Modi to win the elections," said Naqvi. Read the wikileaks cable here... http://goo.gl/tihcrj
