Will Narendra Modi accept AAP's challenge and contest from Varanasi against Arvind Kejriwal?

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi constituency could well see the clash of the titans in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Senior Aap leader Manish Sisodia has said that Arvind Kejriwal will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi constituency if Narendra Modi contests from the same. So far, Bjp has announced that Modi will fight the elections from one seat in Gujarat. It is to be seen, if Narendra Modi accepts the 'challenge' thrown by AAP and contests from Varanasi, as well. Gujarat BJP today announced that Chief Minister Narendra Modi will contest elections from one seat in the state, without ruling out the possibility that he may fight on a second seat from Uttar Pradesh. "I can definitely say that Modiji will fight elections from one seat in Gujarat," state BJP general secretary Vijay Rupani told reporters here. "There has been a clamour to invite Narendra Modi to fight elections from four main cities of the state - Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara and Surat. Our party workers wish that he should contest from Gujarat," Rupani said. "Our (state BJP) parliamentary board had met over the last four days in which it was finalised that Modi would contest from one seat in Gujarat," he said, adding that the decision on which seat he will contest is yet to be taken. When asked if Modi will also contest from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP leader said, "I do not know anything about that seat, but it will be decided by our central parliamentary board." There has been lot of confusion on from which seat Modi will enter the poll fray. The BJP's prime ministerial candidate is at present in Delhi to attend the meetings of central parliamentary board and central election committee. Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia said that the party is most likely to contest Arvind Kejriwal from Varanasi seat, if BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi decides to contest from the UP constituency. "If Modi contests from Varanasi, then we have almost decided that Arvind Kejriwal will be pitted against him (Modi)," Sisodia told news agencies. Sisoadia also said that politicians who are afraid of losing will contest from two seats. Making a direct attack on BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Sisodia said, "If he is afraid, he will fight from two seats. Let him decide." Murli Manohar Joshi is the present BJP candidate from the much-in-demand Varanasi seat. A beleaguered Joshi had expressed his unhappiness over the news that he may have to vacate his seat for BJP's prime ministerial candidate.
