Aggressive Priyanka Gandhi defends husband Vadra, says will not cow down

Rae Bareli: As the war for elections 2014 intensifies, Modi is garnering massive support and addressing gigantic rallies on the other hand facing anti-incumbency sentiments and inundated with scandals, all that Congress needs is revival of its fortunes and heavy political arsenal to combat the assault launched by the opposition. While addressing a rally at Rae Bareli, a Gandhi bastion and constituency of Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a direct and scathing attack on BJP prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi. For the first time Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed the issue of the allegations of corruption against her husband, Robert Vadra and the personal attacks and allegations levied on her family by Narendra Modi and the BJP. She criticised Modi for using harsh words and humiliating her family and targeting her husband for political attacks. Priyanka said, "My family is humiliated, there are things that are said about my husband. The more they humiliate us, the stronger we emerge. I am saddened and hurt by the attacks, but I have learnt from Indira Gandhi that the truth becomes courage," she said, referencing her grandmother and former prime minister, to whom she bears a striking resemblance. "I tell my children that one day, truth will prevail," she further added. Narendra Modi and BJP have repeatedly taken pot shots at the Gandhi family for dynastic politics and held them responsible for rampant corruption and rot in the party. As per the political analysts Congress is in for a drubbing and is grappling with forecasts of a dismal performance. 42-yr-old Priyanka, is not contesting for a Lok Sabha seat, but is managing the campaigns for her mother and brother in their constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
