Facebook nears 100 million users in India

Facebook, the most popular social networking platform in India is going to reach 100 million user base in the country. One of the biggest contributors in this increased user base is Google’s Android. Of the 82,000,000 users who log in using mobile devices, 52,000,000 use a smartphone while 30,000,000 use a feature phone. Of those who use smartphones a staggering 46,000,000 are using Android devices to access facebook. The share of iOS is just 4,000,000. According to a news report in NextBigWhat “the company has been stealing away Google’s wallet share.” What is interesting is that the demographics published in the report say that a huge number of travelers head to facebook followed by parents. The numbers show 12,000,000 travellers and 2,200,000 parents as users of the social networking platform. Apart from these about 1,340,000 small businesses in India have also registered a presence on facebook.
