Mamata Banerjee in trouble for ‘hate speech’, Election Commission wants to scan her videos

Kolkata: In what seems like trouble for West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, the Election Commission has asked the district magistrates of Purulia, Bankura and Burdwan to provide tapes of her “hate speech”, hours after it transferred eight official of West Bengal government and replaced them with different officials. Banerjee challenged the poll panel to arrest her and refused to give in to its orders of transferring the eight officials. Hindustan Times reports: Her invectives had sent shock waves through the country and experts had pointed out that the CM was actually challenging the Constitution. “I will transfer not a single officer. I challenge the Election Commission,” she had said. “I don’t care about anybody. Either accept my resignation or the transfers won’t happen. I challenge the ECI to do anything it likes against me.” Complying with the Election Commission's order, West Bengal government removed seven officials from their existing posts and replaced them with different officials as desired by the poll panel. "Yes, we have executed the Election Commission order today and a letter in this regard has already been sent to the EC", state Home Secretary Basudeb Banerjee was quoted by news agency PTI. The removed SPs included R K Yadav of Malda, Humayun Kabir of Murshidabad, S M H Mirza of Burdwan, Bharati Ghosh of West Midnapore and Jhargram police district (Dual charge) and Sanjay Bansal, DM, North 24 Paraganas.
