Prime Minister House denies release of Taliban prisoners

ISLAMABAD: No Taliban prisoner has been released on the orders of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said a spokesman for the PM House rejecting a report by Reuters news agency about Mr Sharif ordering the release of 16 Taliban prisoners in a bid to revive peace talks with militants. He said that the report regarding the release of prisoners was baseless since the prime minister had not ordered the release of any Taliban prisoner. The spokesman, however, confirmed that the Political Agent in FATA had released some prisoners involved in petty crimes.
