SEEKING ATTENTION? Know why Priyanka Gandhi is drumming up 'family issue' with Varun Gandhi

New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi has started aggressive campaigning for the Congress party, but it seems she has focused her attack on 'Brother Varun Gandhi' who is contesting from Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat. One wonders why her estranged family ties have become so important now. Relations between the two families have really not been cordial for a very long time. Some believe that despite the aura and prestige that comes with Gandhi family, Priyanka this time brings nothing new to the table, so she doesn't have much which could help her capture prime time slot. So, by targeting Varun and raising issues like "betrayal" of the family, Priyanka is only seeking media attention and trying to dodge real issues--How Congress plans to change the state of affairs? No, doubt Priyanka has been in the news after she claimed that her brother has gone "astray". Now the question Is: Why has Varun become so important suddenly? Priyanka and her family did not attend Varun marriage. Varun, who had attended Priyanka’s marriage in 1997, had explained then that Priyanka didi could not make it as she wasn’t well while Rahul was nursing a fractured leg. “All who were supposed to come came,” Maneka Gandhi had commented. Varun has consciously tried till now to avoid nasty exchange of words. Varun says Priyanaka has crossed the "lakshman rekha of decency" and noted that his "decency and large-heartedness" should not be construed as a weakness by anyone. Breaking his silence over cousin Priyanka's remark that he has gone "astray", Varun said nobody can raise one's stature by belittling somebody. The 34-year-old BJP leader also said that his "decency and large-heartedness" should not be construed as a weakness by anyone. Talking of his commitment to the politics of decency and decorum, Varun claimed that he never crossed the "lakshman rekha of decency" against his family members or senior leaders of Opposition parties. Gandhi, an MP from Plibhit, switched to Sultanpur this time and is considered to be in a strong position.
