JI chief wants Rs100bn for Karachi

KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami emir Siraj-ul-Haq has urged the government to announce a Rs100 billion grant for Karachi to solve a host of problems it faces. Addressing a reception organised by his party here on Sunday on his first visit to Karachi after assuming the office of the JI chief, Mr Haq said a fraud was being committed in the name of democracy because most political parties did not hold elections within their parties. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had decided to visit India without taking political parties into confidence. Published in Dawn, May 26th, 2014
