Muslim techie in Pune thrashed to death by right-wing activists over morphed post against Bal Thackeray

Pune: A group of angry right-wing activists thrashed to death a young Muslim techie in Pune, Maharashtra on Monday. The incident was fallout of a derogatory Facebook post against Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and Chhatrapati Shivaji, which was re circulated on WhatsApp, say reports. Reports suggest that the Muslim IT professional who bore the brunt of the irate mob and was beaten to death was in no way connected to the controversial post. The Indian Express reports: "Mohsin Sadiq Shaikh, a 24-year-old from Solapur district was beaten to death by a mob after he was returning home" from offering namaz. His friend Riyaz who was with him when the attack took place told the paper, "Moshin was targeted because he was wearing a skull cap and had a beard." Maharashtra Police on Tuesday arrested seven people from the radical right-wing Hindu Rashtra Sena in connection with the attack. They are likely to be produced in the court today.
