5.4 magnitude quake hits Pakistan's northern areas

ISLAMABAD: Earthquake tremors were felt in the federal capital city of Islamabad and its adjoining areas on Tueasday, DawnNews reported. The magnitude of the quake was recorded as 5.4 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was located 10 kilometres depp underground in north western Kashmir region. The areas where the jolts were felt included Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Gilgit-Baltistan region, Ghazar, Skardu, Batagram, Abottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Astore and Muzaffarabad areas of the coutrny's northern region. The jolts prompted panic-stricken people in the affected areas to rush out from their homes.
