Girl’s body found atop tree

SUKKUR: The body of a 13-year-old girl was brought down from atop a tree by residents of Achar Shar village of Ghotki district on Sunday night. The girl was later identified as Ms Rabia, daughter of Aitebar Shar, a resident of the village located near Mirpur Mathelo town. Villagers said they had spotted the body hanging from the tree and informed Yaroo Lund police but they argued that the tree was out of their jurisdiction. Then Dad Leghari police were approached but they also did not move on the same grounds. After several hours, a team from the Yaroo Lund police station agreed to collect the body for a post-mortem examination but the heirs had already buried the victim. The police believed that Ms Rabia, a shepherd, might have climbed up the tree while grazing a herd of sheep and died of some natural cause. Published in Dawn, July 1st, 2014
