Man kills wife with bricks

LAHORE: A woman was killed with bricks allegedly by her husband in Sundar on Tuesday. Bushra, 30, a mother of one, was a labourer in a garment factory. Investigation Officer Haji Liaqat told Dawn Bushra’s husband Javed was opposed to her factory job. He said the incident took place when the victim came home from the factory. Her husband started quarrelling with her and later beat her with bricks. She died on the spot and the suspect fled. The police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case on the complaint of victim’s brother. ROBBERIES: Gunmen struck five times in Lahore on Tuesday taking away cash, jewellery and other valuables all worth over Rs5 million. Three gunmen barged into the house of Syed Muhammad Ahsan in J-II, Johar Town, in Nawab Town police jurisdiction and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables all worth Rs1.7 million. Four gunmen stormed into the house of Kashif Fiaz in a Township in Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate police jurisdiction and escaped after looting cash and valuables all worth Rs1.35 million. Four gunmen struck the medical store of Ahsanullah on Shalimar Link Road in Mughalpura police jurisdiction and took away cash and calling cards all worth Rs960,000. The suspects also took away CCTV footage.Six gunmen forced their entry into the house of Iqbal Hussain in Dera Iqbal Khana Nepal in City Raiwind and made off with cash and valuables all worth Rs550,000. Two motorcyclists held Maqsood Ahmad and his driver, both employees of a private company, on Main Khiaban-i-Jinnah in Nawab Town police jurisdiction and robbed them of Rs510,000.
