Narendra Modi wave gets stronger: NDA could bag 236 seats, UPA just 92

New Delhi: With each passing day, NDA seems to be getting closer to majority mark, suggest election poll surveys. BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is campaigning aggressively across the country. Congress is not able to escape the corruption tag and Aam Aadmi Party's image has got a serious drubbing recently and voters seem to have lost faith in the party. Now, Narendra Modi has emerged as the only leader capable to leading the country to new heights. The latest ABP News – Nielsen opinion poll has projected a further strengthening of Bhartiya Janta Paty’s hold in Uttar Pradesh and a very slight loss in Bihar, when compared to the January opinion poll. The Narendra Modi-led NDA could be within touching distance of power, winning 236 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. BJP alone, the ABP News-AC Nielsen poll projected, would win 217 seats, comfortably its highest tally ever. The incumbent UPA, on the other hand, could fall to the two-digit mark, winning just 92 seats. Congress on its own would get a mere 73 seats, well below the worst it had ever done in the past, according to the poll. Left Front could do somewhat better than in 2009, winning 29 seats, while 'others' are predicted to bag the remaining 186. Notching up a tally far higher than any other party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to win 40 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and 21 seats out of 40 in Bihar. The BJP won 10 Lok Sabha seats in 2009 in Uttar Pradesh. The ruling Samajwadi Party is likely to get around 14 seats and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 13, says the survey. The survey says that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which made a stunning political debut in Delhi assembly elections last year by winning 28 seats, will be able to get only one seat in Uttar Pradesh.
