BEWARE! Fake video claiming missing Malaysia Airlines flight 'spotted near Bermuda Triangle' spreading malware on YOUR FB account

New Delhi: A fake video claiming that missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been spotted near Bermuda Triangle has gone viral on social networking website Facebook. The video has been tempting users to click on the link has flooded users' timelines and spreading malware. According to website thehackernews.com, the fake 'breaking news' clips, even attributing their source to major news organizations like BBC and CNN, entice users to click on them and once clicked, prompts them to first share and like the page before watching the video. A website revealed that hackers were taking advantage of the huge interest in the story to spread malware on the social network and direct users' to malicious websites. The Beijing-bound aircraft, with 239 people on board, mysteriously disappeared on March 8 just 40 minutes after its take off from Kuala Lumpur. The aircraft last communicated with air traffic base stations east of Malaysia over the South China Sea. The search for the passenger jet has entered its 12th day but so far, there is no breakthrough in this regard. Meanwhile, a techie from Hyderabad has uploaded satellite images of the missing plane on CNN website. Anoop Madhav Yeggina, an IT analyst by profession, had been looking through a number of images of DigitalGlobe Satellite QB02 over the past few days and on Tuesday he stumbled upon an image of a large aircraft flying very low above the Andaman Islands on March 8. He believes that the satellite image he found is the Boeing 777 of Malaysian Airlines. He is among the lakhs of people from across the globe involved in search of the missing plane with over 200 passengers on board. He wrote, “I am confident that the image is that of the missing plane because of many reasons. First giveaway is the fact that the image was captured just above a forest and very close to the Shibpur air strip of Andaman Islands. The air strip is exclusively used by the defence forces with no permission for civilian aircraft in this area. A close look at the image will reveal if it is flying extremely low so much so that the clouds are above it which suggests it was done to avoid detection by radar. Most importantly, the standard scale measurement and colour of the missing plane matches with that of the plane in the image.” Meanwhile, Thai Air Force on Tuesday said its radar had detected a passenger plane - might be the missing jet - that departed from Malaysia and diverted. A Thai Air Force radar station in Surat Thani detected an aircraft that departed from Malaysia but diverted and passed the port city of Butterworth, Malaysia, Juntong was quoted as saying by The National newspaper. Thai Air Force chief ACM Prajin Juntong, however, said it has yet to be confirmed whether the aircraft detected by the Surat Thani radar station was actually the Flight MH370 that vanished 11 days ago. He was silent on exactly at time Thai radar last detected the plane. Malaysian authorities have said the evidence suggests the airliner was deliberately flown off course, turning westward and travelling back over the Malay Peninsula and out into the Indian Ocean.
