Facebook launches free voice calls in India, challenges WeChat

Those with smartphones will find a better way to use their phones now. Facebook has now allowed free voice and voice calls from the social network platform. The company has silently added this feature in the mobile facebook app today. The service was launched in India almost a year after it was launched in US and Canada. These will be free calls that could be made to facebook friends from within facebook. Read - Now Facebook allows free voice calls! The free calls however is not totally free as they include data costs. That means they behave just like free voice calling apps like WeChat that use the data network to connect to others on the same platform, but save you call costs. Facebook being one of the most widely used social networking platform, with this added feature will challenge WeChat, BBM (free voice calls over Wi-Fi) and other such apps in India. It is indeed easy to connect to people on its Messenger, which is like a contact book. All one needs to do is to update your facebook messenger app and tap the ‘i’ button inside a conversation and then select Free Call. In case you are chatting on the Chat you need to tap the ‘more info’ dots next to the person's name to move the conversation to the Messenger app before you make a call. Desktop users will not be able to use this feature.
