Technology plays spoiler: Social networking sites, smartphones breaking down marriages

Bangalore: Technology has definitely helped the human race in leading life smoothly over the last decade or such, but, with its increasing advent in the daily routine, world is beginning to pay a heavy price for the luxury. As per a news report published in DNA, divorce cases are on a constant rise in the IT city of Bangalore, courtesy social networking sites and smartphones. The report says that technology is playing a spoiler and taking toll on the marital life of couples in the city. Adding further it articulates, more than 5,000 divorce cases were filed in the last year and around 3,000 in them were related to technology. Most of the cases registered cite reasons such as illegitimate messages or calls or chats or Facebook posts on smartphones. These were tracked by either of the partners. Some cases were reported where a partner even hired detective agency and used certain apps to retrieve deleted conversations or photos of their spouse, in order to prove he or she is cheating within marriage. Interestingly, SMSes and emails are also being regularly produced in the court as a part of evidence during hearings sessions. As per legal experts, divorce cases related with social networking sites have seen an increase by 50 per cent over some years.
