Beware: 5 vegetables and fruits that can kill you!

Yes! You read right. Many fruits and vegetables that you are eating on a daily basis are actually poisonous. Little is known about the hidden dangers of these otherwise healthy foods. These fruits have the ability to make you sick, paralyse you or even kill you. Sometimes a few parts of fruits are inedible and other times, the whole fruit. Read on to know more about lethal poisons that these fruits carry. Potatoes- Very similar to tomatoes, potatoes have poisonous stems and leaves. When potatoes turn green, it is an indication that they have a high concentration of glycoalkaloid poison. Eating green potatoes can lead to weakness, confusion and eventually even a coma. Rhubarb- A wonder plant, it can be grown at home and is used to make excellent puddings. The leaves contain an unknown poison along with corrosive acid. Mixing the leaves with water and soda makes it even lethal. Tomatoes- Technically tomato is an ovary. A chemical ‘Glycoalkaloid’ exists is the leaves and stems of the tomato plant that can stomach problems and extreme nervousness. They must be removed before eating a tomato. Apples- Seeds of Apple contain cyanide in small doses. If you chew a lot of apple seeds, it can end up making you sick. Dying is possible if you eat enough apple seeds in a go. Cherries- The juicy and sweet fruit has a ‘not-so-sweet’ dark side -- seeds of cherries, on being crushed or chewed release prussic acid (hydrogen cyanide) that could be dangerous.
