Visit this Pakistan where people want Narendra Modi to become PM

Purnia (Bihar): It would sound a little surprising, but it's true. Residents of Pakistan, a small village here, called want Narendra Modi to become the prime minister as, they believe, he is the only leader who can counter neighbouring country Pakistan's attempt to disrupt peace in India. Inhabited by over 250 residents, the village, Pakistan, is located in Singhiya panchayat at Srinagar block, about 30 km from Purnia town, the district headquarters. Around 100 voters here are set to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to help Modi to fulfil his prime ministerial ambition. Interestingly, there is not a single Muslim family in the village, which comprises mostly Santhal tribal households. There also is not one mosque in this Pakistan. Government documents record the name of the village as Pakistan. The village, then in Islampur district of Bengal, was named "Pakistan" in the memory of the Muslim residents who migrated in 1947 to what was then called East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Prior to the States Reorganisation Act of 1956, Purnia was also part of Islampur, which was later awarded to West Bengal. Before leaving for East Pakistan, the Muslims of the village had handed over their property to Hindus of the neighbouring areas. Most of the residents of Pakistan village are poor and illiterate. The literacy rate in Purnea district is just 31.51 percent. The village lacks proper roads, a school and a hospital. However, anti-Pakistan sentiments dominate the village. Purnia goes to polls April 24.
