In Pics: Women voters outshine men in all 15 seats in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh went to polls on Wednesday in the eighth phase of Lok Sabha polls. The state sees a prestige battle for crucial constituencies including Amethi for Rahul Gandhi, Sultanpur for Varun Gandhi, Hajipur for LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan, and Saran for Lalu Prasad Yadav’s proxy Rabri Devi. In Uttar Pradesh, where voting is held for 15 Lok Sabha seats, 35.16 per cent voting was recorded till 1pm. Pressing a button on the Electronic Voting machine (EVM) can be a powerful expression of women empowerment. It may be noted that both Congress and BJP have made empowerment of women a major poll plank in their election rallies across the country. In eastern Uttar Pradesh's 15 LS seats, the fight is expected to be three-cornered between the saffron party, the ruling Samajwadi Party and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Notably, women outnumbered men at all the polling booths on Wednesday. We bring you all the action, in pictures.
